Heirloom Redesign

Kendra

J Mason Design transformed Kendra’s mom’s wedding gown into a wedding rehearsal dress. Kendra’s rehearsal dress was created using only material original to her mom’s wedding gown which had been preserved and was in great condition right out of the box. J Mason Design reinvented the dress by removing the inner lace layer from the sleeves, removing and reapplying some of the original embellishments to the neckline and waist, and hemming the skirt and train to be a knee-length pencil skirt. The updated version of her mom’s wedding gown had a sweetheart neckline with a deep v-back.

Courtney

Courtney’s heirloom gown is the true definition of “something old, something new”. J Mason Design utilized her mom’s dress as the foundation and incorporated new elements to create a truly unique gown. Courtney loved the detail and style of the bodice so that is original to her mom’s gown. J Mason Design replaced the satin skirt with a 12-layer fluffy tulle skirt and applied the lace organza applique from the train of her mom’s dress to the back of the tulle skirt. To update the style of the dress, the original sleeves were removed and the material was used to create off-the-shoulder sleeves.

Jessica

Jessica had her mind set on wearing her mom’s wedding gown for her own wedding and worked in collaboration with J Mason to modernize it so that it reflected her own style. Some of the key factors that contributed to an updated style and silhouette include removing the volume and puffiness from the sleeves and turning them into fitted sleeves, removing the high neck lace detail in the front, adding a petticoat for fullness in the skirt, and removing the mesh from the back bodice. J Mason Design redesigned the dress to have a v-neck and a v-back while also restoring it to its original bright white. J Mason Design also redesigned her mom’s veil, which was originally on a cap, and put it on a comb. Lace from the cap was then used to make a headpiece for Kendra to wear on her wedding day.

Ariana

Ariana really wanted a way to incorporate her mom’s dress on her wedding day and worked with J Mason Design to bring her vision to life. J Mason Design created a one-of-a-kind, custom wedding gown to Ariana’s exact measurements embellished with details from her mom’s dress. The inspiration pictures that Ariana presented revealed some of the key design elements that she was looking for in terms of style, silhouette, and fabric preference. Ariana wanted a sleeveless dress with a v-neckline, detailed bodice and a crepe skirt. J Mason Design removed the lace appliques from her mother’s dress and had it restored to its original bright white. The lace was then used to embellish the bodice of Ariana’s custom gown.
